The town of Chojnice

Chojnice is a town located in the province of Pomerania. The first mention of the town comes from the year 1275. In 1309 the city came under the rule of the Teutonic Knights. The Knights, taking advantage of the fact that the town is surrounded by two lakes (Knights and Green), built a defensive system of fortifications, shafts and double moats. Fojutowo Aqueduct

This structure is a great example of hydro architecture and was modelled on similar structures of ancient Rome. The Aqueduct, which is constructed of stone and yellow brick bonded with lime, was built in the years 1845-1849 to irrigate the Czerskie Meadows with water from the river Brda.
